YL DIGITAL WALKTHROUGH OF CHANGES
// 2021 UPDATES (CONT. READING BELOW FOR MORE DETAILED INFO ON UPCOMING ENHANCEMENTS) //
Alright team! I’ve been sharing with you guys a lot lately how excited I’ve been every time I got off of a corporate call with Young Living - and there have been many!!
Everything goes “live” later, so never fear!! you have time to digest. But you guys... WE ASKED, THEY LISTENED
2021 is a year of change in the most beautiful way for us and our businesses - the way people are able to shop with YL is changing in the best way possible. When you hear about and grasp the possibility here, you might pee a little The new shopping platform is *this* close to launch, and I cannot WAIT to be able to help our people get the EXACT products they are looking for, straight out of the gate! Some other changes that are coming are to protect Young Living, our businesses, and our legacies. These changes are NEEDED and good.
Lemme give you some background on the FTC, then I’ll give you the updates in bullet point format, and gorgeous simple graphics.
Remember! There isn’t a rush to understand every detail of this. But we’re here through it all.
————-
Okay, so. Some background:
The FTC is the Federal Trade Commission and they work to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices. They aren’t typically MLM/Network marketing companies biggest fans. Why? Well, there are a LOT of MLMs out there who are scamming people and giving the business structure (which is an AMAZING, legit business) a bad rap. Young Living has always been so careful to make sure we are always on great terms with the FTC (and FDA), and they are constantly giving us the tools we need to make sure our businesses and the company stay in line with the rules, and we stay safe. That is one thing I am so grateful for - the dedication the YL executive team takes to keep this company working within the highest standards. You’re a part of Young Living? You’re part of something real good.
What are some things the FTC doesn’t like?
They don’t like when you:
X Show your paycheck
X When you are paid for recruiting people into the business (and not for the products first)
X Promises of guaranteed income
X Telling people they will be stacked to success or rank.
X Sell the business or your company’s comp plan as a way to get people to enroll.
X When what you have to buy is more than your earnings
X Have the majority of your sales come from business partners instead of customers (they want to know that the large majority of the time, people join a company FOR the products first, - not the business opportunity - then because of their love of products, they choose to share and therefore build a business! This is very clearly the statistic for YL already, and we’ll continue to make it even more clear!)
LUCKY FOR US - Young Living is a solid freakin company and we are GOOD on most all of these points. I am grateful for a solid, nearly 30 year reputation of integrity and good business ethics.

One thing we are doing to be even more on point with the FTC is adjusting the terminology we use - because we know 98% or so of our “distributors” are actually CUSTOMERS who love and use the product only. But they’ve been classified as members/distributors because that’s what happens when you get a PSK and to get the discount. This is why Young Living announced back in the fall that we were reclassifying people into two categories - CUSTOMERS and BRAND PARTNERS. It puts people where they really truly belong, and will make our income disclosure statement accurate!
Young Living is also making it easier for us to get PAID!!! See all the updates + deets below!

// UPDATES //
———-
+ Customer / Brand Partner reclassification coming in May.
You will be grandfathered in as a Brand Parter if, in the last year (May 2020 - May 2021), you have done any of the following: enrolled someone, earned a paycheck, or achieved the rank of Star or higher.
———-
+ WAYS TO GET THE 24% DISCOUNT AS A NEW MEMBER: Place a 100pv order, order a Starter Bundle, OR add any item to Subscribe To Save!!! (Subscribe to Save is the terminology for our subscription ordering option on the new shopping platform )
———-
+ INTRODUCING “CV” / “Customer Volume” - To get paid and qualify for rank, all ranks will now need to be a Brand Partner with 100CV. What is CV? It is any order from Customers (not Brand Partner) on your Level 1 - meaning you are their sponsor. But guess what? Your personal PV order ALSO may count toward/as your 100CV. For most of us, this won’t change a thing, because we love and use our Young Living products and order at least 100 PV anyway! But if there’s a time when you can’t quite order all 100 in a month, you can still earn a paycheck by building your business. Cool huh?
————-
+ $25 Starter Bonus is being retired: This bonus is being retired, as the FTC frowns upon being incentivized with bonuses to get people to sign up. Before you flip out, hold tight and let’s do some thinking on this one.
We are shifting to a customer model which is going to be glorrrrrious. Our people can come in to Young Living in several ways: with an individual product or a couple items that specifically meet their needs, with a bundle, or with a subscription (or not!).
break it down:
PAST // We signed people up almost exclusively with a $165 starter kit that was 100pv. We earned $25 Starter Bonus and 25% Fast Start. Our team volume (OGV) reflected 100 ogv for this purchase.
NOW // we can sign people up with a 165pv, 200pv, whatever they want order on EXACTLY WHAT THEY NEED AND WANT and earn the 25% Fast Start on the full pv. CURRENTLY 70% OF NEW MEMBERS DO NOT ORDER A SECOND TIME
For a 165pv order, that’s $41.25. Not much different, but getting people into YL with what they want, and EASILY. AND... your OGV will reflect that whole amount!
So if you hold a class and enroll 5 people currently with a $165 kit you get $250 and 500 OGV for the class. Moving forward, if you sign up 5 new customers with $165/165pv purchase you would get $206.25 and your OGV would be 825!!
AND statistically when people come in to the company with what they WANT, they are more likely to stick around and place more orders in the future. BOOM. Helping people to fall in love with Young Living products left and right!
————
+ Customers who want to become Brand Partners will do so by purchasing a $30 Brand Partner bundle: It is filled with beautiful marketing material to start their INTENTIONAL journey into this biz!
———
+ Subscribe to Save and Loyalty Rewards: What are they? And what’s the difference?
I have seen a lot of questions about what’s happening to Essential Rewards, and the great news is that it’s sticking around and we’ll all be able to benefit from it still! The BEST program for ordering monthly, huh??
First, the updated terminology:
- Subscribe to Save: formerly known as Essential Rewards monthly order
- Loyalty Rewards: formerly known as the ER points you earned through a percentage, that goes up the longer you are on ER
- Gifts with Purchase: formerly known as PV promos
Now what are they?
You can be on Subscribe to Save (one monthly order) with any product at any amount and you’ll get the 24% discount!
To earn Loyalty Rewards, you need at least 50 PV on Subscribe to Save each month. Thanks for your loyalty!
The more you spend each month, the more free Gifts with Purchase you receive! And the longer you use Subscribe to Save, the more Loyalty Rewards you earn to grab more YL products you love!
Sounds like a win-win-win-win-win.
